My forms can be considered archetypes that communicate with
the subconscious. These archetypes have always existed, and even today they
can evoke our innermost feelings and associations. I
build
my sculptures with the coiling method, which creates
a distinctive outer surface of lines spiralling towards a centre or axis.
The rhythm of my work and the length of time I need to create it induce a meditative state in which I get in touch with the works in progress at a deeper level. Some people may find that viewing my works is an emotional experience. This is what I consider the greatest strength of my works: Their ability to communicate with their surroundings and affect the viewer in unexpected ways that touch a chord in their subconscious.
